The InfoPanels System was developed as an application controlled by one system administrator and one content administrator. Together with the expansion of system functions and installations in large production plants, it was required to ensure security against unauthorized data insertion. Thus, the InfoPanels System has been extended by user accounts and roles. *User accounts* are used to link the actual application users (administrating people) with access rights to the individual parts of the system that are defined by user roles. The system administrator is completely in charge of account administration and allocation of the individual roles. The restriction or permission to access the individual parts of the system is defined at the level of user roles. The administrator is the major application role that has all the authorizations to operate with objects in the application. Other significant roles include a “content administrator”, a “layout editor” and a “display administrator”. The roles may be combined and allocated to selected accounts.
